Institute of Organ Transplantation and Bionic Medicine, Tsinghua University

In April 2023, Tsinghua University established the Institute of Organ Transplantation and Bionic Medicine, with Professor Dong Jiahong, a renowned hepatobiliary surgeon and liver transplantation expert, serving as the director. As a university-level research institution, the institute integrates multiple interdisciplinary fields, including clinical medicine, basic medicine, life sciences, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, precision instruments, materials science, digital intelligence technology, medical management, and medical law. It has identified six major research directions:

1. Transplantation Biology

2. Transplantation Oncology

3. Organ Regeneration and Repair

4. Organ Bionic Engineering

5. Tissue Engineering

6. Transplantation Ethics and Legal Studies

These areas aim to address significant theoretical and technological challenges in organ transplantation and bionic medicine, promoting the development of clinical-driven and interdisciplinary integration models in medical education.
