The Medical Data Computing Platform
The Medical Data Computing Platform, established in 2020, is a college-level experimental platform affiliated with and managed by the School of Basic Medical Sciences. It is located in Room F002 of the Medical Science Building at Tsinghua University.
Specializing in bioinformatics research, the platform's core technical feature lies in its Kubernetes-powered private cloud infrastructure. It integrates diverse computing resources – including control nodes, compute nodes, GPU nodes, and storage nodes – into a unified system to deliver bioinformatics computing services. Utilizing containerized management, the platform enables dynamic allocation of CPU, memory, and GPU resources to meet personalized analytical requirements.
Pre-installed with mainstream bioinformatics software and essential R packages in its base images, the platform also supports large-scale models and machine learning frameworks. It offers robust visualization capabilities for biological data analysis, providing web-based access to tools like RStudio and Jupyter for real-time graphical rendering and what-you-see-is-what-you-get programming.
Serving researchers requiring computational resources for bioinformatics analysis, machine learning, and large model development/training, the platform caters to both the Tsinghua academic community and external collaborators.
Key hardware configurations include:1 interface server; 3 control nodes; 23 compute nodes, total computational capacity exceeding 2,200 CPU cores,1TB memory per server; 10 NVIDIA A40 GPUs; 11 high-end H-series GPUs. This infrastructure supports diverse computational workloads from routine analysis to cutting-edge AI-driven research.
