The Institute for Immunology (Tsinghua University, IITU) was established in June 2014. It is a school-level research institution co-sponsored by the School of Medicine of Tsinghua University and the School of Life Sciences. The Institute of Immunology currently has 14 professors/researchers, 14 independent laboratories, and 4 joint laboratories. Among them, there is one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 5 experts in the "High-end Talent Program", 6 high-end young talent programs, 5 Changjiang Scholars Chair Professors and Distinguished Professors, 4 outstanding youths and 4 outstanding youths from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The research direction of the Institute of Immunology involves various frontier fields of immunology, such as: autoimmune diseases, immune cell development and function, natural immunity and inflammatory diseases, adaptive immune mechanism, infection and immunity, allergic diseases, and tumor immunotherapy. The Institute of Immunology was recognized as a key laboratory of Beijing in January 2017. The name of the laboratory is: Beijing Key Laboratory of Immunology Research on Chronic Diseases. In the 2019 international evaluation, the evaluation team composed of seven academicians of the American Academy of Sciences agreed that the Institute of Immunology of Tsinghua University has led China and Asia, and has the potential to rank among the top in the world.
