Students should have good humanistic quality, love the motherland, law-abiding, good conduct, integrity; Master solid basic theories and systematic professional knowledge of the subject; Have the ability to undertake specialized technical work independently and rigorous and realistic scientific style.

3、Training objectives and orientation

To cultivate technical and managerial talents with excellent moral character, professional technology and management ability, with broad international vision, and aspiring to engage in biomedical engineering industry.

4、Training Methods

Jointly developed by Tsinghua University and Johns Hopkins University. The first-year courses in Biomedical Engineering are conducted at Johns Hopkins University; In the second year, students study at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Tsinghua University for scientific research practice, and complete the paper.

5、Length of study

The length should meet the requirements of Tsinghua University graduate student status management regulations.

6、Training procedures and degree requirements

Students take specialized courses at Johns Hopkins University; Public compulsory courses, research practice, and other compulsory procedures in Tsinghua University.

Students must obtain at least 34 credits required for the degree (including credits of degree courses and required courses), including 5 credits for public compulsory courses, no less than 24 credits for professional courses, no less than 1 credit for academic and professional literacy courses, and no less than 1 credit for required courses.

8、Dissertation work and requirements

It is required to complete one of the research tasks of the master's thesis and to provide a theoretical and practical English dissertation in written form.

Objective: The thesis work should make the master students receive more comprehensive training in scientific research, and cultivate the ability to engage in scientific research or independently shoulder special technical work.

Topic selection: The topic selection of the dissertation should focus on the Biomedical Engineering field. Generally, the topic selection report should be completed within 2 months after the beginning of the second academic year, and an oral report should be made in a group composed of 3-5 teachers and experts and submitted for the record after approval. If the candidate fails to pass the selected topic within the specified time, the required link assessment does not meet the requirements of the training program and should be separated. Master students can apply for withdrawal, otherwise, they will be expelled by the school.

Advisor: teachers whose research direction is consistent with the topic selection of the thesis and who can instruct the master of Engineering thesis.

Mid-term examination: the mid-term examination shall be conducted 2 months before the defense of the dissertation, and the supervisor shall organize an expert group of at least 3 people to check the completion of the dissertation.

Dissertation: Master of Engineering must submit a dissertation in English.

Evaluation and defense: The dissertation should be evaluated by 2 teachers or experts with master's qualifications; The defense committee should be composed of 3 ~ 5 experts, including at least one member of the degree committee (not the supervisor) or the person in charge designated by the degree committee (the person in charge shall be present to introduce the defense of graduate students when the medical and biomedical degree Evaluation Committee reviews the degree award).
