To enhance the level of internationalization and expand the international influence, the Department of Biomedical Engineering and The Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Johns Hopkins University have jointly established a dual master's degree program. The duration of the project is two years. In the first year, students will focus on the theoretical study at Johns Hopkins University, and in the second year, students will focus on research practice and thesis work at Tsinghua University. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, which also meets the graduation requirements of the relevant departments of both schools, students can apply for a master's degree from two leading universities in China and the United States.

Brief introduction of the partner universities

The Johns Hopkins University,(https://www.bme.jhu.edu/academics/graduate/masters-programs/tsinghua-jhu-bme-dual-degree-program/)is the first research university in the United States, and its success sparked the transformation of other American universities into research universities. The National Science Foundation (NSF) has ranked the university as the nation's top research spender for 31 consecutive years. The university is renowned for its fields of medicine, public health, space science, international relations, history, literature and music. It is also home to the ground control center of the Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope. The relevant international ranking information is as follows:

- In 2017, US News ranked US 10th overall in undergraduate programs.

- Department of Biomedical Engineering, BMEhas been ranked number one in the US News Global University Biomedical engineering program for many years since 1992.

-NTU Ranking # 2 in the world in 2017 (# 1 is Harvard).

- Scimago is ranked 4th globally in 2017(Harvard University, Stanford University and MIT are the top three) and 9th globally.

Introduction of project curriculum and research resources

In the first year of this dual Master's program, students will study in JHU Biomedical Engineering with a focus on coursework. In the second year, after returning to Tsinghua university, students will choose their supervisors in the Department of Biology and Medicine or the Department of Electronics for scientific research training. They will enter the Department of Biomedical Engineering or the Department of Electronic Engineering for master's thesis work according to the administrative department of the dissertation supervisor. Covering seven major elective courses and research branches in biomedical engineering:

-Biomedical Data Science

-Biomedical Imaging & Instrumentation

-Computational Medicine

-Genomics and Systems Biology

-Neuroengineering

- Immunoengineering

- Translational Cell & Tissue Engineering

Fees:

-The fee of the first year is same as the JHU tuition ($53,740).

-In the second year, tuition will be paid according to Tsinghua University standard.
