At the recent Tsinghua Medicine International Advisory Council 2025 meeting, Prof. Ivy Ng, Senior Advisor, SingHealth Board and past Group CEO of SingHealth, highlighted how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a unique opportunity. Millions of patients in China already use both TCM and Western medicine, but the key challenge is determining the right combination—and finding evidence to show that integration truly enhances care.

By applying rigorous, evidence-based approaches, Tsinghua can define new models of integrative medicine—combining centuries of tradition with modern science, and scaling these insights globally.

Prof. Ng also emphasized other pillars of a leading academic health system:
