廖洪恩教授曾获国际医学生物工程联合会颁发的IFMBE青年学者奖(IFMBE Young Investigators Award)、日本政府颁发的文部科学大臣青年科学家奖、船井信息科学奖(Funai Information Science Award)、爱立信青年科学家奖(ERICSSON Young Scientist Award)等十余项国际/地区性重要奖项。2017年获得我国生物医学工程学科最高科技奖“黄家驷生物医学工程奖”,2018年获“中国侨界贡献奖”一等奖,以及国务院侨办颁发的“全国归侨侨眷先进个人”,2019年被中国科协聘任为首席科学传播专家,2020年获中国致公党中央委员会“致公党抗击新冠肺炎疫情先进个人”称号,2021年获SID北京分会杰出贡献奖。

廖洪恩教授现任中国科协全国首席科学传播专家、中国生物医学工程学会常务理事,国家食品药品监督管理总局医疗器械分类技术委员会专业组委员等。担任过MIAR, MICCAI, ACCAS等近十个国际会议的大会主席、程序委员会主席、组委会主席,以及20几个国际杂志和会议论文集的副编辑、编委和特邀审查员。受邀担任瑞士、荷兰、加拿大、日本、新加坡等国家多个科研基金评审委员会委员和评审员,以及国家科学技术奖、国家自然科学基金、“长江学者奖励计划”(讲座教授、特聘教授、青年长江、特设岗位)、国家海外高层次人才引进计划(创新、创业、青年、外专),国家高层次人才特殊支持计划(“万人计划”)、国家食药监总局创新医疗器械等评审专家、专家组组长。在国际组织中任国际医学生物工程联合会亚太区联席主席、亚洲计算机辅助外科学会理事长等职务。
