APOIS 2025 and Tsinghua International Eye Symposium Successfully Held in Beijing

Nov 18, 2025

From November 7–9, 2025, the 5th Asia-Pacific Ocular Imaging Society (APOIS) Congress, held alongside the 1st Tsinghua International Eye Symposium (TIES), took place in Beijing — co-hosted by APOIS, Tsinghua Medicine , and Beijing Visual Science and Translational Eye Research Institute (BERI).

The meeting gathered nearly 500 clinicians, scientists, and innovators from 24 countries, featuring 29 invited sessions, 7 forums, 4 workshops, and an international image competition — fostering vibrant global dialogue at the intersection of ophthalmology, imaging and biomedical engineering.

Conference Chair Prof Tien Yin Wong , Vice-Provost of Tsinghua University and Senior Vice-Chancellor of Tsinghua Medicine, welcomed participants and highlighted the transformative role of #AI and imaging technologies in shaping the future of global eye health.

Two keynote lectures anchored the scientific program:

• Academician Qionghai Dai (Tsinghua University) shared advances in intelligent medical systems and next-gen imaging.

• Prof Pearse Keane (UCL Institute of Ophthalmology) presented pioneering AI research in diagnostics and disease prediction, inspiring dialogue on precision and equity in healthcare.

Panel highlights included:

•Myopia, Asia and the World — global strategies for myopia prevention and control.

• The Future AI-based Eye Clinic — reimagining care models driven by intelligent technology.

• Advances in Ocular Imaging — showcasing innovations in diagnostics, screening, and device development.

Collaborative sessions with ARVO, APGS, and SAIVO further strengthened cross-regional exchange on ophthalmic imaging, glaucoma management, and AI-enabled innovation.

Early-career researchers also presented their work through ePosters and Free Paper Sessions, reflecting the creativity and vitality of the next generation of clinician–scientists.

From global strategies to prevent major blinding diseases to AI-enabled clinical translation, and from next-generation imaging systems to innovations in therapy and surgery, APOIS–TIES 2025 demonstrated how AI and imaging are transforming ophthalmology and advancing the future of precision medicine.
