Our program fully respect students' learning interests and modify the way of teaching to suit the special requirements of every student.
Students can freely choose different learning paths according to their aspirations and interests: Tsinghua will create multi-path development opportunities for students to choose freely according to their interests and accumulation.
It is well designed with three stages over an eight-year period:
● Foundation Stage (1st - 3rd year)
Students study general and basic courses such as natural science, social science and life science, etc. relied on the disciplinary advantages of comprehensive university in Tsinghua.
Students will complete the study of basic medicine by Organ-System Based Learning and attend the course "clinical early contact". This will make students get familiar with the specificity and characteristics of clinical medicine as early as possible, to cultivate good communication ability with patients and team cooperation ability.
● Research stage (4th - 5th or 7th-8th year)
Students can choose research training in the field of basic medicine, clinical medicine, life sciences, or “medicine+X” interdisciplinary research in top-notch medical schools overseas. Some of students will implement scientific research in transferring medicine relevant field under the guidance of tutors.
In this stage, the training will lay an important foundation for the future growth of clinicians, medical scientists, medical educators or medical administrators.
● Clinical stage (6th - 8th or 4th-6th year)
In this stage students will go to large general hospitals domestic or overseas for 3 years of standardized and complete clinical training.
In this period, students will study clinical medicine courses, complete systematic and comprehensive rotation practice in clinical departments such as internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology and paediatrics. Students will immersive learn in the top medical institutions, and use the interdiscipline research ability which they have learned in the scientific research training stage to develop new ideas and strategies to solve problems encountered in clinical diagnosis and treatment. Students have opportunities to get hands-on internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in U.S.A.
