Beijing National Engineering Research Center for Biochips (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") and Boao Bio-Group Co., Ltd., based on Tsinghua University, was established on September 30, 2000 and officially awarded in October 2001. It is my country’s first A national engineering research center operating in a corporate manner. Cheng Jing, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chair professor of Tsinghua University School of Medicine, serves as the director of the center.

The center is committed to the research and development of medical systems biology using biochips as the platform. It has completed research and development and the industry’s entire industrial chain layout in the field of "big health", and responds to the national health policy of "prevention first, Chinese and Western medicine". The health policy closely integrates modern medicine with traditional Chinese medicine, and through the engineering and scientific upgrading of traditional Chinese medicine, a large health industry sector integrating health products, health management and medical rehabilitation has been created.

Up to now, it has successfully developed dozens of products and services with independent intellectual property rights for clinical diagnosis and health management at home and abroad. More than 440 patents have been granted at home and abroad, and the patent conversion rate has reached 50%; 206 SCI papers have been published in journals such as Nature Biotechnology. Won 2 second prizes of the National Technological Invention Award, 7 Beijing Science and Technology Awards, and 5 scientific and technological achievements passed the ministerial appraisal. As the chairman of the National Biochip Standardization Committee and the undertaking unit of the secretariat, 14 national standards and 7 industry standards formulated by the center have been promulgated.

The center is recognized as a national life science and technology talent training base, a national enterprise technology center, a national high-tech research and development plan achievement industrialization base, a national genetic testing technology application demonstration center, a national health and family planning commission individualized medical testing pilot unit, and national knowledge Demonstration enterprises of property rights, etc.
