Beijing Hospital was founded in 1905. The original name was German Hospital. After the victory of World War II, it was renamed Municipal Beiping Hospital. In April 1949, the Ministry of Health of the Central Military Commission led the medical staff of Yan'an Central Hospital and Bethune International Peace Hospital to take over the then "Municipal Beiping Hospital" and changed its name to "Beijing Hospital" as the name of Beijing changed. The years have washed away the mark of the past, but retained the style of Beijing Hospital-implicit and introverted, unpretentious. The four-character "Beijing Hospital" was written by Chairman Mao Zedong in 1950, and it has now become an important symbol here. Beijing Hospital has inherited the important responsibilities and excellent traditions of the Yan'an Central Hospital, continues to provide medical and health care services to senior leaders of the party, and continues to shoulder the important responsibility of the leaders of the People’s Republic of China in health care.
