Beijing Hospital was founded in 1905. The original name was German Hospital. After the victory of World War II, it was renamed Municipal Beiping Hospital. In April 1949, the Ministry of Health of the Central Military Commission led the medical staff of Yan'an Central Hospital and Bethune International Peace Hospital to take over the then "Municipal Beiping Hospital" and changed its name to "Beijing Hospital" as the name of Beijing changed. The years have washed away the mark of the past, but retained the style of Beijing Hospital-implicit and introverted, unpretentious. The four-character "Beijing Hospital" was written by Chairman Mao Zedong in 1950, and it has now become an important symbol here. Beijing Hospital has inherited the important responsibilities and excellent traditions of the Yan'an Central Hospital, continues to provide medical and health care services to senior leaders of the party, and continues to shoulder the important responsibility of the leaders of the People’s Republic of China in health care.

For Beijing Hospital, 1964 is destined to be a year of historical significance. This year, Chairman Mao Zedong personally instructed that Beijing Hospital was opened to the outside world and serving ordinary people has become another important responsibility of Beijing Hospital in the new era.

Today, Beijing Hospital follows the motto of "loyal to health care and care for people's health" and has developed into a modern comprehensive hospital that is open to the whole society and develops in all aspects of medicine, education, research and prevention. It is not only a tertiary A hospital directly under the National Health Commission, but also an important health care base for the central government.

Beijing Hospital is located in the center of Beijing, covering an area ofmore than 55,800 square meters, with a building area of227,788 square meters. It has 1,328 beds and 3,310 employees, including 836 doctors, 1,374 nurses, 316 medical technicians, and 161 pharmacists. There are 481 senior technicians with chief and associate chief physicians, associate professors, researchers, and corresponding titles; 418 doctors and 496 masters. The hospital has 48 clinical and medical technical departments, and has long-term responsibility for the medical and health care tasks of the central leadership and 15,000 More than cadres at the department and bureau level and above have medical care tasks and medical insurance work for more than 800,000 insured persons. At the same time, it also received a large number of difficult and critical patients who were referred from other places outside Beijing. Beijing Hospital has the experience and ability to undertake the medical and health care work of many large-scale national events and important conferences, and has successfully completed many medical and health care tasks of foreign heads of state.
